Biggles Books
Today most of the Biggles books are out of print and therefore found their way on the lists of collectors. The rarest and the most precious of all the series seems to be the book titled, "Biggles and Deep Blue Sea" which was sold for as much as US $1000 through an auction on eBay.
The popularity of the Biggles books have prompted many adaptations made for TV, one of which was the successful yet short-lived TV mini series run in the 1960s. An attempt was made to make a science-fiction movie based on Biggles books but the experiment was not commercially successful. There are many "borrowing" episodes where different movies, plays or TV series have "borrowed" one character from Mr. Biggles stories such as TV Show 'Doctor Who' and 'The Empty Child' (2005).
Other adaptations include conversion of the Biggles stories into comics in the 1990s under different titles, but covering the same stories that were described in the Biggles books originally.
