The Biggles

 

Mr Biggles adventures did not end with the war. As it is, The Biggles is seen to have fought both in World War I and World War II. He spent the in-between time on the payroll of the BSS (British Secret Service) uncovering and defusing sinister plots against Britain. 

As soon as the World War I was over, Mr Biggles marketed himself as a freelance charter pilot since flying was his first and last love. His aircraft and partner in all these adventures was an impressive amphibian aircraft which he referred to as "Vandal". The covers of the Mr Biggles books often carried a picture of him flying in this amphibian which more or less resembled a Supermarine Sea Otter or Supermarine Walrus.

His team during his out-of-war adventures consisted of Algy, who was his cousin (full name Hon Algemon Lacey) and Ginger Hebblethwaite, a friend whom he met during one of his escapades as BSS agent.
